What's the difference between an independent Medicare agent and a call center?

When I search online I keep reaching big call centers. How is a local independent agent different?

1 answer from licensed agents

An independent Medicare agent is a licensed local professional who works with you directly and is usually the same person you call again next year. A call center often routes you to whoever is available and may share your information with several agents at once. With a local independent agent you choose who you work with and can meet by phone, video, or in person. Keep in mind that any agent — independent or not — may not offer every plan in your area, so it's worth asking which carriers they represent.
