How do I verify that a Medicare agent is licensed?
How can I check that an agent is actually licensed before I talk to them?
1 answer from licensed agents
Every insurance agent has a National Producer Number (NPN) and a state license you can check. You can verify an agent through your state department of insurance license lookup or the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR), or simply ask the agent for their NPN. Some directories review licenses too — on Medicare Agent Scout, a “Verified” badge means our team checked the agent's license against public records. Verification confirms licensure; it is not a Medicare or government endorsement or a rating of quality.
