Special Enrollment Period

A Special Enrollment Period (SEP) lets you enroll in or change Medicare coverage outside the standard windows when certain life events happen — for example, losing employer coverage or moving out of your plan's service area. The rules and length depend on the event. Acting within the SEP can help you avoid gaps and late penalties.

This is general education, not personalized advice, and plan details change every year. For all of your options, contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or your local State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) at shiphelp.org.
