Extra Help / Low-Income Subsidy
Extra Help, also called the Low-Income Subsidy (LIS), is a federal program that helps pay Medicare Part D prescription drug costs for people with limited income and resources. People who qualify may pay less for premiums, deductibles, and copayments. Eligibility is determined by the Social Security Administration, and many people with both Medicare and Medicaid qualify automatically.
