Understanding Part D drug coverage

Part D plans cover prescription drugs. Each plan has a formulary — a list of covered drugs organized into tiers that affect your cost.

Because formularies differ, it’s worth checking that your specific medications are covered before enrolling. A small difference in formulary can mean a big difference in your yearly cost.

If you have limited income and resources, you may qualify for Extra Help (the Low-Income Subsidy) to reduce your drug costs.
